Baked Egg-in-the-hole Bagel

Ingredients
2 Bagels Sesame | |
4 tbsp. of unsalted butter, softened | |
4 large eggs | |
1 tbsp. of water | |
Salt & Pepper to taste | |
Optional 2 oz. of smoked salmon, bacon or avocado |
How to make
1. | If necessary, widen the holes of the bagel halves by a few centimeters or inches using a small pairing knife |
2. | Spread bagel halves evenly with butter on both sides. |
3. | Warm a 12-inch skillet over medium heat. Place bagel halves, cut side up, in skillet. Cook until golden brown about 2 to 3 minutes |
4. | Flip bagel halves cut sides down and reduce heat to low. Crack eggs into the bagel holes and pour 1 tbsp. of water around the edge of the skillet and cover with a lid. |
5. | Cook the egg until the whites are set and the yolks are cooked to your desired doneness, 5 to 8 minutes. |
6. | Transfer the bagel halves to a plate; season with salt and pepper. Serve with smoked salmon, bacon or avocado if you choose. |
